Armthorpe has a Sure Start Childrens Centre situated on Mere Lane - at Shaw Wood Primary School - We join a growing network of twenty-one Sure Start Childrens Centres located in the Doncaster area.

At the childrens centre, everybody matters and our aims are to ensure that all children aged between 0 and 5 years get the best possible start in life. We will also be offering support and training opportunities to parents/carers and the wider community.

We have a fantastic new building filled with excellent quality early years toys and equipment for the local community to use. Our services are being delivered in the centre as well as other locations around the village, including family homes, by a wide range of multi-agency staff.

The centre is open 52 weeks a year, from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, with the occasional Saturday

Here are some of services: family learning sessions, family support, stay and play sessions, drop-ins, baby clinic, baby café, baby massage, musical minis, surviving with children, ante-natal, weaning talk, story time, bumps and babies, parenting workshops, dads group, adult education, young parents, parenting classes, and parents voice.

If you are the parents/carers of children aged 0 to 5 years, come along and register at the childrens centre. Pop in and meet our very friendly staff, have a look around, pick up a programme, and browse all the information on display. Children’s Centre’s are a Government led programme designed to give every child the best start in life. The aim is to do this by delivering services pro-actively in an integrated way.

Doncaster Children's Centres form part of the Integrated Family Support Service which brings together Children's Centres, Youth Services and Family Support Services.
