Children's Centre Area Reports
The Early Years and Childcare Service within Doncaster Council acts on behalf of the Local Authorities statutory duty with regard to the Childcare Act 2006. The legal requirement under this is to secure as far as is reasonably practicable, that the provision of childcare is sufficient to meet the requirements of working parents and parents making the transition into work. This information needs to be available at sub-locality level.
The primary use of the Childcare Sufficiency Area Reports is to produce an action plan to manage the childcare market and ensure it is flexible, sustainable, and responsive to meet parent’s needs. A range of our colleagues and partners use this baseline information to support and inform decision-making across a local area.
These area reports are shared with key partners at the Children’s Centre Advisory Board in each area. The report is updated three times a year in January, May and September and contributes to the annual review of the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment that is published each year in April.
We are always open to feedback on the content of the area reports; you know your area and may have additional relevant information that could support any decisions made.
For a copy of each area report please see the link on the right hand side.
If you have any comments or wish to discuss the content of an area report please contact: The Sufficiency and Information Team: on 01302 862129 or email: fis@doncaster.gov.uk
